Wisconsin

Wisconsin is famous for fishing, beer, and cheese, so I figured this would be an awesome trip. Milwaukee is an excellent town with delicious food and very friendly people. As I learned from Wayne's World, Milwaukee is Algonquin for "the good land" and it lived up to its name. I fished Lake Michigan out of Milwaukee with Chris Busalacchi on a very windy day (wind speeds up to 24 MPH with gusts up to 31 MPH).

I caught a wide variety of quality fish: three king salmon, the biggest being 37 inches; three brown trout, the biggest being 25 inches and about eight pounds; and two coho salmon, the bigger being 30 inches. The 30-inch coho was big enough for a live-release trophy fish award from Wisconsin. The 30-inch coho was also my second-best coho (behind the 12-pounder caught on Lake Michigan in Illinois the day before) and the 25-inch brown was my second-best brown, behind the 9-pound brown from the Indiana side of Lake Michigan. Chris is a very knowledgeable guide and a true Wisconsinite, as proven by his wearing shorts in the 40-degree weather we had at the start of our trip.
